Festival Mas i Mas

With a beautiful, compact, rounded sound like an organ – warm, soft and full of poetry – the young members of the Azahar Ensemble are carving out an important place for themselves on the international chamber scene. In fact, in 2014 they were prizewinners in one of the most important competitions in the world, the ARD International Competition in Munich. With these credentials, the group has recently been invited to take part in the festival organised by the famous Ensemble Pentaèdre in Montreal (Canada) and they made their debut in the Chamber Hall at the Berlin Philarmonie. They have also received invitations for festivals such as Verbier, Sabos and Santander. In the group, all the instruments converge naturally to sound like a single one, letting the music speak for itself. Today, they offer us an exciting programme journeying through three centuries of music for wind quintets.

Program:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) - Andante für eine Orgelwalze F-Dur KV 616 (Arr.: Ulf-Guido Schäfer)

Anton Reicha (1770-1836) - Wind Quintet in D, op. 91 Nr. 3

Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) - Kleine Kammermusik für fünf Bläser op. 24 Nr. 2

Joaquín Turina (1882-1949) - La Oración del Torero

                                              - Five Gipsy Dances, Op.55
