After a period of some break, we want to share with all of you...

After a period of some break in the activity of the Quintet, we would like to share with all of you the latest news about Azahar Ensemble.

First of all, we would love to give a warm welcome to our new clarinetist, Miquel Ramos Salvadó, who joins the Azahar Ensemble family substituting Gonzalo Esteban. We wish Gonzalo all the best in his future.

Miquel was born in Barcelona and studied in the Conservatoire of Badalona, ESMuC (High School of Music of Catalonia) and the Musikhochschule Lübeck (Germany), where he studied a Master with the clarinetist Sabine Meyer. He was a member of the JONC (Youth Orchestra of Catalonia) and the JONDE (Youth Orchestra of Spain), having been granted a scholarship by the JONDE/BBVA Foundation to study abroad.

He collaborates regularly as solo clarinet with orchestras like the Geneva Camerata, the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona Opera), the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonisches Orchester Lübeck and the Orchestra Camera Musicae.

Since 2010 he is a member of the Murtra Ensemble and -since 2012- of the Spira Mirabilis project.

The incorporation of Miquel Ramos to the Azahar Ensemble opens a new era of the group, full of a renewed energy and illusion, as well as new projects such as the recording of our first CD's.

The first CD will be recorded next July in Mallorca and will be produced by Calanda Music. We will record some of the major works of the repertoire for Wind Quintet.

In November, we will be recording our second CD. For now, we can only share with you that it will be recorded in Berlin by the Deutschlandradio Kultur. Without any doubts it will be a very special CD; it is a genuine project of Azahar Ensemble and we are incredibly motivated to see how, after a long time working in that, it becomes a reality!

On 29th June we will start our summer tour in one of the most well-known festivals in Germany; the  Mozartfest in Wurzbürg.

On 1st July, we will be playing in the "Festival Lavaux Classic" in Cully (Switzerland). Concerts in the "Rheingau Musik Festival"  and in the "Kammermusiktage" in Mettlach will follow.

To end our summer tour we will have our debut in the prestigious "Festpielhaus Baden-Baden"; an ideal event to present our new clarinetist to the audience!
